Prerequisites
- SetupClaw APP installed on your computer (macOS or Windows)
- A QQ developer account registered at q.qq.com (QQ Bot Open Platform)
- OpenClaw set up with at least one AI model configured
Setup Steps
Create a QQ Bot
Go to the QQ Bot Open Platform at q.qq.com and sign in with your developer account.
- Navigate to the bot management section and create a new bot application.
- Once the bot is created, locate the App ID and App Secret on the bot credentials page.
- Keep these credentials safe — you will need them in Step 4.
Configure Bot Settings
Set up your bot profile and enable the necessary capabilities.
- Set a name, avatar, and description for your bot. This is what users will see when interacting with it.
- Enable message receiving capabilities so your bot can respond to user messages.
- Save the bot configuration before proceeding.
Set Sandbox or Production Mode
Choose whether to test in sandbox mode first or submit for production review.
- For initial testing, enable sandbox mode. This allows you to test the bot with a limited set of users before going public.
- Once you are satisfied with the bot behaviour, submit it for production review.
- After approval, your bot will be available to all QQ users.
Enter Credentials in SetupClaw
Open SetupClaw APP and add QQ as a new channel.
- In SetupClaw APP, go to Channels and click Add Channel.
- Select QQ from the list of available channels.
- Enter the App ID and App Secret you obtained in Step 1.
- SetupClaw will install the QQ bot plugin automatically and configure it with allowFrom set to accept all messages.
Add the Bot and Test
Find your bot in QQ and send a test message to verify the integration.
- In QQ, search for your bot by name and add it as a friend or invite it to a group.
- Send a message to the bot.
- If the AI responds, your QQ integration is complete.
Troubleshooting
Bot approval pending
If your bot is still in sandbox mode, only designated test users can interact with it. Submit for production review to make it available to all users.
Sandbox vs production confusion
Double-check which mode your bot is in on the QQ Bot Open Platform. In sandbox mode, messages from non-test users will not be delivered to the bot.
Messages not received
Verify that the OpenClaw gateway is running in SetupClaw APP. Also confirm that the App ID and App Secret are correct. Try restarting the gateway from the SetupClaw Dashboard.
